World PT Day 2026 is in less than two weeks

It’s almost time for World PT Day on 8 September! This year’s theme is the role of physiotherapy in the prevention, management, and rehabilitation of cardiovascular disease and stroke.

Celebrating 75 years of World Physiotherapy

This year, World Physiotherapy is celebrating its 75th anniversary with a series of activities reflecting on our history, recognising the people who have shaped the profession, and looking to its future.

Celebrations include recognising 75 noteworthy physiotherapists from around the world, a global summit on AI in physiotherapy, and a meeting of our founding member organisations to reflect on more than 75 years of global collaboration and contribute to our future vision, Physio2040.

Physiotherapy development gains momentum in the Dominican Republic

A recent World Physiotherapy visit to the Dominican Republic strengthened relationships and identified opportunities to support the continued development and recognition of physiotherapy in the country.

Working closely with the Dominican Association of Physical Therapists (ADOFIK), World Physiotherapy met with government representatives, educators, physiotherapists, and healthcare leaders to discuss priorities for education, regulation, professional practice, and advocacy.

Released to mark World Humanitarian Day on 19 August, the WHPA statement highlights escalating violence against healthcare workers and calls on governments and parties to conflict to uphold international humanitarian law and ensure accountability for attacks on health care.
